Hydrogen is the smallest, lightest and most abundant element in the universe! 💫…and we can get a hold of it using just water and electricity! If the electricity comes from a renewable source, we can sustainably create a gas to replace fossil fuel gas where simply “electrifying” (like with cars) doesn’t work. Hydrogen can make turbines, trucks and other heavy industry green.

Thoughts?!

For me, I think it’s super interesting to learn about this technology and to support a timely adoption, also to catch up with our neighbors in Malaysia and Indonesia who are ahead in the game.

At the University of Chiang Mai there is a unique opportunity to learn about this technology in a dedicated course – as well as plenty of funding options for projects.

Did you know… that their pattern is unique, just like our finger prints are to us? Also, they are home bodies that like to remain in the same area most of their lives. Can totally relate!

Though we saw two beautiful leopard sharks last week, their populations are in decline. Sharks are an important part of the marine ecosystem — keeping a balanced healthy world down under. The main cause of their disappearance? Overfishing. As for their fins, body, or as by catch.

All us beautiful peeps, what can we do? We can avoid seafood (commercial fishing) or support local fishermen, no shark fin soup or any shark products, help push for #MPA marine protected areas and contribute to citizen science!

I often dream of a world that’s totally sustainable: regenerative food systems, circular fashion, and renewable energy driving our lives and transportation.
A key technology for making these dreams a reality is: green hydrogen.

With just water and electricity as an ingredient a gas is created that can take the place of conventional gas to be burnt, stored or reconverted to electricity.
We can see its applications already today, for example a hydrogen powered bike I got to ride or the first ever hydrogen powered home of Sebastian-Justus Schmidt and his family, called the Phi Suea House in Chiang Mai.

..where I was thrilled to moderate a two-day hydrogen conference (16-17 January, 2025).

Global leaders and universities from various fields, from energy and investment to education, guided us through deep discussions - not just on hydrogen, but also on finance, afforestation, carbon credits, greenwashing, and nature-based solutions like biochar. We also tackled key technical topics like regulation and policy, battery storage, and the intricate systems that make hydrogen energy possible.

Energy powers everything: our society, innovation, and daily lives. It’s time we all take a closer look at how it works.

Merry Christmas to all the lovely people! 💫 This year, my mom wanted to have some festivities, so we whipped out our old Xmas decos and gathered, played, and shared gifts. Our secret Santa rule? Nothing new. Just treasures we once loved, items ready for a new home, or treats from faraway places. Every gift came with a story, and every exchange reminded us of the beauty in giving thoughtfully 💚

As we celebrated, I couldn’t help but feel deeply grateful - for that we are lucky to be together, for peace within our immediate space, and for the chance to pause and reflect.

Thank you all for welcoming me as Teacher Jan!

Here’s a little of what I’ve learned from playing Kru Jan, homeroom teacher of Room 2:

1. Expect the best in people, and that’s often what you’ll get.

2. When someone’s lost, help them find their motivation. Sometimes the best thing you can do is give them the space to figure it out—while being there for support.

3. The power of breathing. A huge thank you to our Director P @fonkanittha.k and our acting coach pa @sobeuty for showing me how to truly take my time with my breath. Whether it’s in a meeting or on stage, taking a moment to breathe makes all the difference. It’s incredible how grounding it can be. Thank you both for unlocking this in me - this will be with me in every moment of my life! (When I’m mindful that is ^^).

Thank you again for letting me be the teacher of Room 2. Naughty kids? They’re just brilliant kids asking for attention in odd ways!

Since the end of 2023 until just a few months ago, the classroom set was my arena. These photos from various cameras will always remind me of the late nights and unforgettable moments. Now, it’s back to real life—what a blast it’s been!

เราได้ช่วยกันสร้างบ้านปลา การท่องเที่ยวแบบยั่งยืน และได้เรียนรู้มากขึ้นเกี่ยวกับความท้าทายที่เกิดจากการรุกล้ำของประมงอุตสาหกรรมที่ส่งผลกระทบต่อวิถีชีวิตของชาวบ้าน ระบบนิเวศของทะเล และความปลอดภัยของอาหารทะเล

ซึ่งวาระสำคัญ‼️ วาระหนึ่งที่พวกเราต้องช่วยกันดูและขับเคลื่อนคือ การทำการประมงด้วยเครื่องมือผิดกฎหมาย ห้ามการใช้ตาอวนต่ำกว่า 2.5 ซม. (อย่างเช่นอวนที่มีตราขนาด 3mm ที่เค้าใช้กัน … มันเล็กเท่ามุ้งลวดเลยนะคะ และมันหมายความว่ามันจะกวาดทุกอย่างขึ้นมาเลยค่ะ 🥲) และห้ามใช้เครื่องมือคราดหน้าดินทุกชนิดในพื้นที่ที่กำหนด‼️

ตอนนี้ทะเลของเรากำลังวิกฤต จากภัยคุกคามต่าง ๆ ที่เกิดจากกิจกรรมของมนุษย์ การเรียนรู้ การทำความเข้าใจเกี่ยวกับระบบนิเวศทางทะเลเกี่ยวกับความสำคัญและความสัมพันธ์ระหว่างสิ่งมีชีวิตที่พึ่งพาอาศัยซึ่งกันและกัน จะช่วยทำให้เราตระหนักถึงความสำคัญของการรักษาความหลากหลายทางชีวภาพและทำให้เราคำนึงถึงการปรับใช้ชีวิตเพื่อลดผลกระทบต่อสิ่งแวดล้อมให้ได้มากที่สุด

การเดินทางไปเกาะเต่ากับองค์กรไวลด์เอดในครั้งนี้ มารีญาได้เรียนรู้เกี่ยวกับระบบนิเวศทางทะเลกับหลักสูตรของโรงเรียน @new_heaven_reef_conservation ทำให้เข้าใจถึงบทบาทของการเป็นนักดำน้ำเพื่อการอนุรักษ์ ทำความรู้จักกับโครงการวิทยาศาสตร์พลเมืองหลาย ๆ โครงการ และทำให้ได้มีโอกาสเห็นสถานการณ์ทะเลไทยในปัจจุบันที่กำลังเผชิญกับภัยคุกคาม

ทะเลไม่เพียงแต่เป็นที่อยู่อาศัยแก่สิ่งมีชีวิตนับล้าน แต่ยังมีบทบาทสำคัญต่อการดำรงชีวิตของมนุษย์ในหลายมิติ ตั้งแต่เป็นแหล่งอาหาร การทำประมง การท่องเที่ยว ไปจนถึงการปกป้องชายฝั่งจากภัยพิบัติอีกด้วย ทุก ๆ สิ่งที่เราทำ สิ่งที่เราบริโภคจึงมีผลต่อท้องทะเลทั้งนั้น

องค์กรพิทักษ์สัตว์แห่งโลก ประเทศไทย เดินหน้ารณรงค์และสร้างความตระหนักรู้ให้แก่ประชาชนถึงผลกระทบของอุตสาหกรรมข้าวโพดอาหารสัตว์ อันเกิดจากการขยายตัวของอุตสาหกรรมการผลิตเนื้อสัตว์ เราเลยได้จัดกิจกรรม “Print Ads Contest” ชวนชาวอาร์ตสร้างสรรค์ผลงาน เพื่อร่วมเป็นพลังสำคัญต่อการขับเคลื่อนการรักษาสิ่งแวดล้อมอย่างยั่งยืน ผ่านงานออกแบบโฆษณาสิ่งพิมพ์ ในหัวข้อ “ผลกระทบอุตสาหกรรมข้าวโพดอาหารสัตว์ต่อสิ่งแวดล้อม” เปิดกว้างทุกแนวคิด ไม่จำกัดเทคนิค รวมถึง AI ชิงเงินรางวัลรวมมูลค่ากว่า 6 หมื่นบาท ส่งผลงานได้ 2-18 ตุลาคม 2567 นี้

การจัดประกวดสื่อรณรงค์ในครั้งนี้ เป็นการเปิดโอกาสให้ทุกคนที่มีความสามารถในด้านความคิดสร้างสรรค์ร่วมกระตุ้นจิตสำนึก ผ่านการออกแบบสื่อที่จะช่วยสร้างความตระหนักต่อปัญหานี้ และร่วมตั้งคำถามถึงความรับผิดชอบของผู้มีอำนาจในอุตสาหกรรมอาหารสัตว์ ที่กำลังคุกคามสมดุลของธรรมชาติอย่างน่าวิตก
