ภาพยนตร์เฉลิมพระเกียรติ คีตราชัน แบ่งออกเป็น 7 ช่วง โดยเริ่มตั้งแต่ภาพพระราชกรณียกิจ นานาประการของพระองค์ และย้อนกลับไปตั้งแต่ครั้นยังทรงเริ่มฝึกดนตรี โดยทรงมีความสนพระราชหฤทัยเป็นพิเศษในดนตรีแจ๊ส ท่วงทำนองอันงดงามของบทเพลงพระราชนิพนธ์

ตลอดระยะเวลา 50 ปี สะท้อนให้เห็นเรื่องราวของชีวิต ในอารมณ์ต่างๆ ทุกเพลงล้วนมีความหมายอันลึกซึ้ง ที่สำคัญ คือ การที่ทรงใช้ดนตรี เป็นสื่อถ่ายทอดความรู้สึกในพระราชหฤทัย สู่จิตใจของพสกนิกร ทำให้ความผูกพันระหว่างปวงชนกับพระมหากษัตริย์ แนบแน่นอย่างที่ไม่เคยปรากฏมาก่อน

The 70-minute documentary, Gitarajan, was produced to commemorate the 50th Anniversary Celebration of His Majesty's Ascension to the Throne. The film portrays His Majesty's talent and high interest in music, including the excellence of His Majesty's compositions, which continue to delight listeners to this day.

Gitarajan is divided into 7 parts, beginning with His Majesty's various tasks that he performs for the happiness of his people, then turning back to the time when he spent 2 years studying classical music under a renowned teacher. It also illustrates his attentions to serious practice of the music he loves most...jazz.

Each note of music composed by His Majesty over the past 50 years reflects different times and phases of His Majesty's life, as well as carrying within it a certain depth of meaning. Through his music, His Majesty has opened his heart to his people, helping to strengthen the bonds between the King and his people in a way never seen before.

The film Gitarajan was sponsored by Suramararaja Co, Ltd. under the production of Kantana Motion Picture Company. Completed in November 1996, it premiered on December 20,1996, at the Main Hall of the Thailand Cultural Center.
