หลังจากเกิดคดีฆาตกรรมหญิงสาวมาแล้ว 5 ราย ซึ่งล้วนแต่มีรูปวาดอยู่บนศพ Cho Myeong-gu ก็ถูกจับในที่เกิดเหตุขณะฆาตกรรมเหยื่อคนที่ 6 O Hyeon-ju ผู้รับผิดชอบคดีนี้แน่ใจว่าสามารถเอาผิดเขาได้แน่ ระหว่างที่สื่อประโคมข่าวร้อนแรงเกี่ยวกับคดีนี้ว่าจะถูกพิพากษาว่าผิดหรือไม่ Yun Byeong-ho เพื่อนร่วมมหาวิทยาลัยและคนรักเก่าของ Hyeon-ju ก็เข้ามารับหน้าที่ทนายให้กับ Myeong-gu

Byeong-ho พยายามทุกวิถีทางเพื่อจะพิสูจน์ว่าลูกความของเขาถูกครอบงำโดยวิญญาณของชายชื่อ Gwang-rim ซึ่งมีชีวิตอยู่ในช่วงปี 1930 และพัวพันกับการเสียชีวิตของเกอิชาเกาหลี ไม่ว่าจะเป็นการค้นหาคนที่มีพลังจิต นักสะกดจิต และหลักฐานต่างๆ มายืนยันต่อผู้พิพากษา

Cho Myong-gu, after murdering 5 women, draws paintings on the corpses. He is caught at the scene after murdering his 6th victim. O Hyeon-ju volunteers to take the case, feeling certain she can convict him. With the heated media speculation as to whether Myeong-gu would be found not guilty for temporary insanity or found guilty, Yun Byeong-ho volunteers to be his attorney.

Byeong-ho is Hyeon-ju's university colleague as well as her former lover. He makes a rather unusual argument on behalf of his client. He contends that Cho is possessed by the soul of Gwang-rim, who in the 1930s was involved in a deadly affair with a kisaeng (Korean for geisha). In his attempt to convince the judge, the attorney seeks the help of psychics, hypnotists and a wealth of circumstantial evidence that would be thrown out of most courts.

Hyeon-ju goes to the National Institute of Scientific Investigation with her assistant to identify the victim. There they see the sample of the sexual organs of San-hong and Gwang-rim who had been killed during the Japanese occupation period. They find odd similarities, and begin to get a strange feeling about the case.
