Let me share something personal with you...
I believe I was Indian in a past life. Every time I return here, it feels like coming home.. the sense of belonging and inner peace is undeniable. And I’d choose Pani Puri over Pad Thai any day!
For over 15 years, I’ve worked in media where success is measured by ratings, views, likes, shares, and engagement. The pressure to stay “on” and relevant is constant and exhausting.
Then something changed. My pilgrimage to India opened my eyes to a different way of living, and my perspective on life transformed completely.
I found inspiration in the teachings of Buddha - an ancient Indian scientist who started with just 5 followers. His insights are fascinating, especially when you realize how relevant they are today..
- He taught that simply noticing your breath can bring you back to the present moment (sounds like modern breathwork, right?)
- He advocated eating just one or two meals a day for mental clarity (hello, intermittent fasting!)
- He emphasized gratitude, abundance, and positive energy for achieving goals (isn’t this what we now call manifestation?)
2,600 years ago, Buddha was probably the world’s first life coach! At first, his 5 followers left when he promoted balance over extremes. But they eventually returned and spread his message when they saw the truth in his teachings that living in the present moment, letting go of past and future worries, and understanding that everything is temporary. And these are the keys to a fulfilled life.
That’s why I keep coming back to India to recharge my spirit and reconnect with my true self. I also think it helps me survive in today’s fast paced world where nothing is enough.
The downside of this trip is the 3 kilos I’ve gained and i can’t be ‘puffy’ on my wedding day! So I’ll be fasting fast.
