On a day like this is when I can say I friggin love my job! 🤩 Last weekend, hanging out with the local fishermen in Koh Tao, assisting them on the creation of their fish aggregation device (FAD).

FAD represents a precious local wisdom that has been handed down through generations in the southern region of Thailand, but sadly, only a handful of fishermen continue to preserve this tradition.

Essentially, this ingenious device enables them to establish their own fishing territories without causing any harm to the delicate coral reefs or disrupting the diving tourism. Crafted from natural materials, the FAD lures in small fish, which in turn attracts larger ones, allowing the fishermen to employ non-invasive rod fishing techniques. The beauty of the FAD lies in its exceptional sustainability, benefiting both the environment and the livelihood of the fishermen community. 🎣 🔆
