A day late to post about International Women’s day but I also believe we should celebrate women everyday 🧚🏽‍♂️✨

Here’s a mixed media installation piece I created to cherish the relationship between women and nature. 🪷🤍

Because in many languages, religions and cultures, nature has often been portrayed as a woman. For instance, ‘Gaia’, the name of planet Earth, is also the name of the goddess of the earth in Greek mythology. In both Quechua and Aymara, ‘Pachamama’ means earth, cosmos, universe, time and space depicting the roots back to the origins. ‘Phra Mae Thorani’, is also another mythological “Mother Earth” goddess known throughout Thailand, Laos, Cambodia and Myanmar.

Nature and women share the ability to birth and nurture all life forms, hence; both are referred to as “Mothers”.

With this idea in mind, I encourage women to embrace and celebrate their divine feminine energy through this installation in which the dirt lump represents the pregnant woman’s bump and the tree that shoots out of it represents the umbilical cord that feeds and nourishes all living things on earth. 👐🏽🌳🪸🌊
